The story behind Garnish

I’m Hayley, founder of Garnish Consulting.

After a varied career, time spent living and working overseas, and experience across different industries, I reached a point where I knew I wanted to take everything I’d learned and build something of my own. Something that would give me the flexibility to work in a way that fits around my young family, while allowing me to do what I love, helping businesses make more of their brand and marketing.

It began with a degree in Events Management, where I learned early that the magic is in the planning. From there, I joined the global marketing team in London's financial district, then spent time in restaurant and café management in Sydney, before returning to the UK for eight years in the speciality food industry where I had the opportunity to lead across marketing, brand, events and business strategy.

Those experiences have shaped what I bring to Garnish. I understand that great marketing isn't just about having a good idea or making something look good; it needs to work commercially, connect with the right people and ultimately contribute to the bigger picture. I particularly love working with startups, helping them plan and deploy the business and marketing strategy that gets them off the ground.

I bring together strategic thinking, creative problem-solving and hands-on marketing experience, with a practical understanding of what it takes to make things happen. I’m comfortable looking at the bigger picture, but equally happy getting stuck into the detail. Whether that’s defining a brand strategy, shaping a proposition, planning a campaign or working out how to get it all delivered.

For me, the real value is in joining the dots between your business goals, your brand, your customers and your marketing. That’s where good strategy becomes great marketing, and where Garnish can make a real difference.

“What I do best sits where strategic thinking, project management and creative problem-solving meet.”
